Book Notes

I came across this article by Barry Davret stating that it’s better to read one great book ten times than to read ten books once. I agree – I read a non-fiction, grasp the concept, know it’s important for my legacy, know I need to execute, but over time the hype in reading the book fades and I never fully implement the actions introduced in the books. Do I comsume too much information and avoid execution? Maybe. I don’t know. But I ackowledge that I’m probably still in the stage of consumption.

He explains how you can easily read one important book 10 times – by creating a list of self-made book summaries organised in categories and subfolders. He calls it Book Notes. And by doing so you can easily and frequently come back to your short and concise summaries to refresh your memory on the gist of the book.

So. I will do my Book Notes here (I actually do it on Notion and copy it here) and share with you all, hoping it will change your mindset and the way you operate the way these amazing authors changed mine.

I have a list of books in mind already, and I’ll expand the list along the way. So do check back.

  • Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World – Cal Newport
  • How Will You Measure Your Life? – Clayton M. Christensen
  • Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative – Austin Kleon
  • Show Your Work!: 10 Ways to Share Your Creativity and Get Discovered – Austin Kleon
  • Surrounded by Idiots: The Four Types of Human Behavior and How to Effectively Communicate with Each in Business (and in Life) – Thomas Erikson

The list goes on. But I’ll start with these titles first.
